Ola Electric has taken the wraps of what could be the world’s first fully autonomous scooter. Called Solo, details of this scooter were revealed on the company’s YouTube channel and social media handles. Even Ola Co-founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, also shared the self-ridden scooter on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
First teased on April 1, the Ola Solo was earlier conceived as a social media prank on the occasions of April Fool’s Day. However, it turned out to be an actual working prototype. In the video uploaded by Aggarwal on his X handle, the Ola electric scooter can be seen moving around an enclosed area without a rider onboard.
Ola Solo: Electric scooter with self-riding tech
In his social media post, Aggarwal mentioned that the Solo gives “a glimpse into the future of mobility” and Ola’s engineering teams are working on autonomous and self-balancing tech in two wheelers which will come out in the future. Ola Electric claims that the Solo is “ideated, innovated, and manufactured in-house.”
The Solo is essentially a test bed for Ola’s QUICKIE.AI software which is capable of making split-second decisions. The AI is powered by an indigenously developed LMAO 9000 chip that analyses real-time traffic data to navigate streets with ease. It also comes equipped with a ‘Vishram’ feature enabled by Electrosnooze Quantum that allows the scooter to find itself a hypercharger nearby and energise itself.
Enhancing the autonomous capabilities is the in-house developed adaptive algorithm named JU-Guard that only analyses ride patterns but also takes into account pot holes, speed breakers and all other obstacles to formulate a comfortable ride. This comes with a Human mode which lets the scooter interact with their human counterparts.

Ola Solo: Expected launch, specs
It is very much evident that the Solo is still at a concept stage, and Ola’s current S1 models are being used as test beds to perfect the autonomous technology. When it finally hits markets, it may take a completely different shape, therefore specs cannot be assumed at this point. Also, it is too soon to predict a supposed launch timeline for the Solo which may take a while since it involves up to Level 4 autonomous capabilities.
Earlier, Liger Mobilty showcased what it claims is the World’s first self balancing scooter named X and X+. However, Ola Electric claims full autonomous capabilities with Solo which will need some form of validation before it actually goes on sale.
