Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal was far from amused upon reviewing the company’s attendance data. In an email to employees, he warned that strict action would be taken against those with poor attendance. Aggarwal also announced that starting Monday next week, the company will implement more stringent attendance expectations.

Ola CEO: Why so serious?

In his usual straightforward manner, Aggarwal didn’t hold back: “I’ve been reviewing our attendance data, and it’s shocking to see how many people have had poor attendance.” The Ola CEO emphasized that employees should come to work, do their jobs, and feel connected to the ‘OLA mission.’ He expressed concern that many are taking undue advantage of the work-from-home (WFH) policy, which, according to him, should only be used when there is a genuine need or requirement.

Aggarwal said this behaviour undermines the efforts of diligent and hardworking colleagues, with some individuals merely trying to exploit the company. He also noted that certain employees are adept at coming up with excuses to avoid work, such as claiming “the facial recognition system data is incorrect.”

Dealership and service network expansion

Ola Electric is under pressure for not being able to meet the demand for servicing its electric scooters. Currently, the company owns over 500 dealerships and 400 service stations. To address this and improve the after-sales and ownership experience, Ola Electric plans to double its company-owned service network to 1,000 centres by December 2024. Additionally, through its Network Partner Program, the company aims to onboard 10,000 partners across sales and service by the end of 2025. Ola Electric also introduced its EV Service Training Program, which aims to train 1 lakh third-party mechanics, ensuring that every mechanic in India is equipped to handle EV maintenance.
