Triumph is reportedly expanding its 400cc lineup which currently includes the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. The British brand has reportedly teased the upcoming bike in a media invite mentioning the unveiling date of 17 September 2024. Earlier last week, Triumph teased a new bike with the RS nameplate on its social media handles.
We believe that the upcoming motorcycle is going to be a derivative model of the Speed 400 and likely to be slotted between the current Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X in the lineup. The invite shares a glimpse of the upcoming bike with bar-end mirrors, and a dual-tone fuel tank painted in red and black along with Triumph’s signature logo and white stripe in the middle.
New Triumph 400cc bike: What to expect?
While details regarding its design is largely under wraps, the invite mentions it is a “another modern classic” which suggests highlights such as a round headlamp, a flat single-piece seat, and a teardrop-shaped fuel tank to begin with. In terms of features, it is expected to come equipped with a semi-digital instrument console, a USB charging port, ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control system, and LED headlights, and taillights.

Mechanically, the new 400cc Triumph is expected to be similar to its siblings with the same tubular steel frame suspended on upside-down front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at both ends aided by dual-channel ABS. Since it is expected to be more in line with the Speed 400, we expect the new bike to roll on 17-inch alloy wheels.
Powering the new 400cc Triumph will be a familiar 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that pushes out 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch. Like the Speed 400, we expect multiple ride modes to be offered with the new bike.
