KTM has been in the news for the last couple of months with new launches and products. Now, the Austrian motorcycle maker is back, this time because of the new RC 399 that was seen testing. The RC range has always been a great track weapon and is also the last of the 390 series to get an update. Here’s a more detailed look at the updated KTM 390 spied testing.

New KTM RC 390 — What are the updates?

The first visible change is the design of the motorcycle, as it gets more sportier than the current version. The front fairing sees a major change and is now sharper, with a single LED headlight tucked in the centre. The visor is also updated, while the sides of the fairings get massive ducts for cooling. The fuel tank and the rear tail section have also seen significant updates.

The motorcycle gets a steel trellis frame suspended by USD forks at the front, a monoshock at the rear, disc brakes at both ends, 17-inch wheels, LED lighting, and a split seat setup. The motorcycle is expected to get a TFT instrument console and a long list of electronic nannies such as cornering ABS, traction control, launch control, quickshifter, and more, similar to the current-gen 390 Duke.

The engine will also be the same as the 390 Duke — a 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit that makes 44.25bhp and 39Nm of peak torque with the help of a six-speed gearbox. When launched, the new KTM RC 390 will compete with the Yamaha R3, Kawasaki Ninja 400, and the Aprilia RS 457. With the updated KTM RC 390, expect a price hike as well compared to the current-generation vehicle.
