Kinetic Green made a comeback in the two-wheeler space with the launch of E Luna, in early 2024. A homage to the original Luna from the 1970s, the e Luna will be followed up by a new electric scooter which is also expected to be inspired by a very popular Kinetic’s older model from the past.
The company has shared a series of teasers on its social media handles sharing small glimpses of the upcoming electric scooter. From the looks of it, this upcoming e-scooter looks very similar to a patent filed by the Pune-based manufacturer sometime earlier this year, which we reported last month.
Kinetic Electric Scooter: Details spotted
As mentioned in our previous report, the upcoming electric scooter looks familiar to the old Kinetic DX scooter built in collaboration with Honda, which ruled the roads in the 1990s. And the recent teasers back our claims too. In one of the teasers, Kinetic shares a glimpse of the switchgear on the handlebar which is reminiscent of the scooter which was also referred to as Kinetic Honda.
The switchgear shows a red button for the self-start ignition. For reference, the DX was the first two wheeler in India to come with a self-start ignition button. Although, we doubt if the wordings used in the clip will be the case when the scooter launches. In another teaser, Kinetic partially reveals the front end of the scooter with a hexagonal headlamp cowl consisting of a rectangular headlamp and an integrated LED daytime running light.
Moreover, the cowl is headlined by a broad flyscreen with the “KINETIC” lettering similar to the DX. Only this time, the branding is illuminated. Another teaser highlights the design of the front fender and side panels which are also inspired by the Kinetic DX.
Kinetic Electric Scooter: Other expected details
Recently, this battery-powered scooter was spotted testing in Pune wearing a complete camouflage. The spy images reveal a few other details about the upcoming scooter apart from its styling. For instance, the scooter seems to roll on 12-inch while suspension duties are carried out by front telescopic forks and dual rear shock absorbers. Stopping power will be carried out by a front disc brake and a rear drum brake.
The spy shots further reveal the use of a hub-mounted electric motor. The company has already announced that the battery choices for the upcoming e-scooter will vary between 1.8 kWh and 3 kWh, with a maximum speed of 80 kmph.In terms of features, the new Kinetic electric scooter is likely to get LED lights, a digital instrument console and a USB charging port.
