Kawasaki has reintroduced the middle-weight supersport, the ZX-6R in India, priced at Rs 11.09 lakh, ex-showroom, Rs 60,000 more than what it was sold for earlier. For 2024, the Kawasaki ZX-6R has seen a few changes and updates, and here’s a detailed look at what’s new on the fully-faired 6R.
Platform and design

The new Kawasaki ZX-6R is based on a pressed aluminium perimeter chassis and Kawasaki says that although it derives its DNA from the race track, the motorcycle is tuned for being ridden in the city. On the design front, the 6R gets a slightly tweaked front fairing, giving it an angrier look, while its rear section remains identical to the older ZX-6R. Overall, the new ZX-6R gets slight tweaks compared to the older model, but enough to give it a fresh look.
Equipment and features

On the equipment front, the new ZX-6R continues to get fully adjustable suspension at both ends, disc brakes at both ends, 17-inch wheels, and clip-on bars. On the features front, the new Kawasaki ZX-6R gets traction control, power modes, ABS, and more. The update in this department is a new 4.3-inch TFT display with phone connectivity, replacing the older analogue cluster.
Engine specifications

The engine on the new Kawasaki ZX-6R remains the same 636cc in-line four unit, however, it is now Euro 5 complaint. The engine now makes 128bhp and 69Nm, slightly lower than the previous model. The torque has also gone down from 70.8Nm to 69Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a bidirectional quickshifter and a slipper clutch.
Pricing and competition
As mentioned earlier, the new Kawasaki ZX-6R is priced at Rs 11.09 lakh ex-showroom. And for those wondering why the motorcycle costs so much, one needs to understand supersports. These motorcycles are meant to offer high-end equipment, similar to the litre-class motorcycles, but in a smaller package with no compromise on power. As for competition, the ZX-6R has no direct rivals in India.
