Honda has launched its popular middleweight sport tourer in India, the 2025 CBR650R, priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The fully-faired motorcycle has been on sale in India previously as well, but for 2025, Honda has given the motorcycle a few important updates. Here are five things to know about the new Honda CBR650R.

Design

The new CBR650R gets a design update, borrowed from the larger CBR. The motorcycle looks more sharper and sportier with a twin headlight setup and the new Grand Prix Red colour scheme compliments the nature of the motorcycle well. Honda has also made the rear section narrower and the motorcycle looks more sportier compared to the older-generation CBR650R that was on sale in India. The new CBR650R is also available in a Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic paint scheme.

Features

In terms of features, Honda has given the CBR650R a new TFT instrument console with phone connectivity and navigation. Riders can connect using a dedicated app. Other features include full LED lighting, dual-channel ABS, and Honda Selectable Torque Control, which detects wheel slip. This feature can be turned off as well, with a dedicated switch.

Hardware

The new Honda CBR650R is based on a steel diamond frame and is suspended by Showa USD forks, an adjustable rear monoshock and rides on 17-inch wheels. The wheels are wrapped in 120 front and 180-section rear tyres, while the front gets dual disc brakes the rear gets a single 240mm rotor. Overall, the new 2025 CBR650R weighs 209kg.

Engine specifications

Powering the 2025 Honda CBR650R is a 649cc, liquid-cooled in-line four-cylinder engine. The motor makes 93bhp and 63Nm of torque, with the help of a six-speed gearbox mated to a slip-assist clutch. Honda does not offer a quickshifter with the new CBR650R, however, there are several aftermarket brands that do one if one needs it.

Competition

In terms of competition, the new Honda CBR650R competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Triumph Daytona 660 in India. The former makes lower power compared to the CBR650R, while the Triumph Daytona 660 makes around the same power as the Honda — 94bhp.
