KTM upgraded the Duke range with a new generation last year. The Austrian brand is now working on upgrading its Adventure range which should hit the roads in the coming months. Prototypes of the new-gen Adventure 390 have been spied on multiple occasions on foreign soil.
The adventure bike was spotted testing in India for the first time recently. Besides the Adventure 390, KTM is also working on a full-blown rally-spec adventure bike. Commonly referred to as Enduro 390 in the public domain, this hardcore ADV was also caught on camera alongside the new-gen Adventure 390.
New-gen KTM Adventure 390, Enduro 390: Styling
In its entirety, the new-gen KTM Adventure 390 looks very different from the current-gen model. The test mule of the new-gen Adventure 390 appears sleeker yet more imposing than the current model. It gets a large front windscreen mounted on top of a twin-LED circular headlamp bezel. The twin-headlamps are surrounded by LED DRL strips.

Common visual highlights between the Adventure and Enduro include a tall windscreen, a beak-like front fender, LED front and rear indicators, an underbelly exhaust, wire-spoked wheels, a saree guard, an engine sump guard, and V-shaped LED taillights. However, there are highlights which distinguish the Enduro from the standard Adventure 390.
New-gen KTM Adventure 390, Enduro 390: Differences
For starters, the more hardcore Enduro 390 is a more stripped-down version of the 390 Adventure which leads to lower weight. The Enduro seems to have higher ground clearance possible due to a raised suspension setup. The seat on the Enduro also appears taller than the standard Adventure 390. More importantly, the Adventure 390 was sported with split pillion grab rails whereas the Enduro 390 didn’t have any.

While wheel design is similar, both bikes get very different wheel sizes and tyres. The Adventure gets slightly road-biased, dual-purpose tyres wrapped in 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel. Whereas the Enduro gets more off-road-friendly and knobbier rubber more suited for trail bashing wrapped around 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels.
New-gen KTM Adventure 390, Enduro 390: Expected engine
Powering the new-gen KTM Adventure 390 and Enduro 390 will be the same 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as offered in the KTM Duke 390. This motor delivers 45 bhp and 39 Nm of peak torque while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. A bi-directional quick-shifter will further ease gear shifting.
As for prices, the new-gen KTM Adventure 390 is expected to be priced around Rs 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the Enduro version could be priced at a premium of Rs 10,000 over the standard model.
