The wait is finally over and Royal Enfield has announced the pricing of the Himalayan. The new Royal Enfield Himalayan’s introductory price starts at Rs 2.69 lakh, ex-showroom and is available in five colours. The new Himalayan is almost Rs 1 lakh cheaper than its closest competition in India, the KTM 390 Adventure SW, which is priced at Rs 3.60 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Himalayan is a new motorcycle built ground-up, featuring a new chassis, suspension components, a longer wheelbase, and an all-new 450cc liquid-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The Himalayan gets switchable ABS, a 5-inch TFT dash with phone connectivity and navigation, USD forks, and much more, making it a capable adventure motorcycle.

As mentioned before, the Himalayan gets USD forks, a monoshock at the rear, a TFT dash, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, phone connectivity, 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, and spoked wheels. The international-spec Himalayan gets tubeless spoked wheels, however, for India, it will be available at a later stage.

Royal Enfield has tuned the engine to deliver 90 percent of its peak torque at 3,000rpm, making most of the power available at the bottom end. That said, the gearbox gets no quickshifter, instead, it gets a slip and assist clutch to make the shifts more slick.
