KTM has shared a new teaser which indicates we have something new coming our way very soon. The teaser images show a partial image of the bike which is certainly one of its Duke models given its silhouette but it couldn’t be confirmed exactly which model it would be. From our understanding it is most likely to be the brand new Duke 160.

Earlier in March this year, it was revealed that the KTM 160cc range will serve as the new entry-level lineup for the Austrian bikemaker replacing the 125cc range. Hence, it’s a strong possibility that the upcoming KTM model teased on social media could be the Duke 160. Unlike the Duke 125 which was a global product, the Duke 160 will most likely stay within the Indian demography.

KTM Duke 160: What to expect?

The first glance at the teaser suggests that KTM will most probably use the same body shell as the Duke 125. Not just the looks but KTM will try and retain most of the underpinnings from the 125cc naked streetfighter. This will help KTM to price the motorcycle aggressively, giving an accessible entry into the brand’s lineup.

Hence, expect the same sharp looks of the KTM Duke range with an aggressive front face, chiselled fuel tank with extended shrouds, a floating tail section, and split seats. In the teaser, we can also see the colour-coded orange wheels which is a signature KTM touch. In terms of functionality, expect the same trellis frame chassis, paired with 43mm USD forks and a monoshock rear suspension, dual-channel ABS, and a digital LCD instrument cluster.

KTM Duke 160: New heart

Powering the KTM Duke 160 will be an all-new heart. From what we understand, the new 160cc engine will be derived from the 200 Duke’s motor and is expected to produce around 19-20 bhp, a significant upgrade from the current 125cc engine, which delivers 14.5 bhp. This motor will be paired with a six-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.

KTM Duke 160: Expected Launch & Rivals

Don’t be surprised if KTM pulls off the covers from the new Duke 160 as soon as in the next couple of weeks. When launched, the Duke 160 will lock horns with the Yamaha MT-15TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS200, and Honda CB Hornet 2.0. We expect it to be priced around Rs 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
