While EICMA 2023 is giving motorcycle enthusiasts a steady dose of excitement, KTM has dropped a bomb, taking the wraps off the new 990 Duke, that will replace the 890 Duke in the motorcycle maker’s lineup. The new 990 Duke will be the new middle-weight motorcycle, while the 790 Duke will continue to be on sale to cater to those wanting a slightly subtle Duke.
The new KTM 990 Duke’s standout feature is its design, which will clearly bring on a lot of discussion. The 990 features a unique headlight design with four DRLs surrounding the headlight, with a hollow design inbetween. The motorcycle features large, angular tank shrouds and is based on a new frame.
Moving on to the next best bit, the engine. Powering the motorcycle is a 947cc parallel twin engine that makes 123bhp and 103Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle gets a bi-directional quickshifter as standard, while there is long list of electronic aids.

The new 990 Duke gets three ride modes, wheelie control, traction control, switchable ABS, lean sensitive ABS, launch control, and cruise control. All these aids can be accessed via the left switchgear, which is similar to the new 390 Duke.
On the equipment side, the 990 Duke gets adjustable USD forks made by WP, fully adjustable monoshock at the rear, 17-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone S22 tyres, four-piston front brake callipers, LED lighting, tail lamp integrated into the rear blinkers, and a 5-inch TFT dash amongst others.
