Crisis-hit KTM seems to be focusing more on smaller-capacity motorcycles, as after the company has sorted the 390 range, it is now focusing on the 690 series. The latest spy shot to have emerged from Europe is the KTM 690 Rally, which is more of an adventure and touring-focused motorcycle based on the 690 Enduro R.
New KTM 690 Rally — What does the picture reveal?
The new KTM 690 Rally seems to be based on the 690 Enduro R, which has been on sale for a while now. The motorcycle is popular in many parts of the world, however, it has a drawback — touring. While aftermarket fuel tanks sort this out, there’s nothing like original equipment.
Speaking of which, the 690 Rally that was spotted features three fuel tanks, inspired by the 450 Rally Replica. This means more highway range and balanced weight distribution. That said, the motorcycle even features the typical rally bike design with a tall windscreen and vertically stacked headlights.
Power will be derived from a 693cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that makes 74bhp and 73.5Nm of peak torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is expected to have a decent set of electronic aids, while the motorcycle debut is expected at EICMA this year as it looks close to ready.
