KTM 390 Adventure S vs Enduro R — What’s the difference?

At India Bike Week, KTM unveiled two new motorcycles — the KTM 390 Adventure S and the Enduro R. Scheduled to be launched next month, the two motorcycles will be available for bookings from December 10, and they have raised massive interest amongst enthusiasts who wanted a proper KTM adventure motorcycle.

However, with two motorcycles to choose from, things can get a bit confusing. So here are the key differences between the KTM 390 Adventure S and the Enduro R.

KTM 390 Adventure S vs Enduro R — Differences

The KTM 390 Adventure S is more road-focused among the two and features USD forks, a monoshock at the rear, a 21-17 wheel setup, a tall fairing, a flat seat, a TFT instrument console, traction control, lean-sensitive ABS, cruise control, LED lighting, and a host of other electronics to keep the rider in check whether on the road or off the tarmac. However, it will be a capable off-roader as well.

The KTM 390 Enduro R will be more off-road-focused with less creature comfort. The motorcycle features minimal bodywork, a bikini fairing up front, a 21-18 wheel setup, adjustable suspension at both ends, disc brakes at both ends, a small LCD instrument console, and a dedicated button to turn off the ABS. The KTM 390 Enduro R will have a better advantage off-road, while on the highway, the 390 Adventure S will make more sense. However, for those not thinking of off-road at all, there will be a version of the 390 Adventure with cast alloy wheels.

KTM 390 Adventure S vs Enduro R — Similarities

The two motorcycles share the same frame, and most importantly, the potent 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine will be the same powerplant as the 2024 390 Duke, however, there may be changes to the gear ratios to make the motorcycles better suited for their purpose. More details will be available when the motorcycles are launched in January 2025.
