KTM 390 Adventure, 390 Enduro R bookings officially begin today

Both 390 Adventure and 390 Enduro will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto at Chakan for both domestic and international demands.

KTM has officially started accepting bookings for the new-gen 390 Adventure and 390 Enduro R. Both bikes recently made their debuts a few days ago at the India Bike Week in Goa, after breaking covers globally at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy last month. After a grand unveiling at IBW, pre-bookings for the new-gen 390 Adventure and 390 Enduro R have officially commenced.

Bookings can be made at the company’s official website by paying a token amount of Rs 1,999. While the KTM Adventure range is a sought after line of motorcycles, it’s the first instance that the Austrian bikemaker is bringing the Enduro range to India (not accounting for limited units of the Enduro models launched recently last month as part of KTM’s big bike range).

KTM 390 Adventure S, 390 Enduro R details

While KTM hasn’t officially released technical details such as specifications or features, some of the details are already out in the open. Starting with the 390 Adventure, it is most likely to be offered in three variants: Adventure X, Adventure S, and Adventure R. The one displayed at IBW 2024 was the mid-spec S trim while the other two trims are most likely to be unveiled later, most likely during the Bharat Mobility Expo.

Highlights of the Adventure S include a high-mounted front fender, LED lighting, 21/17-inch wire spoke wheel setup wrapped in Apollo Trample tyres, and disc brakes at both ends. The rear wheel setup is one inch smaller than the Adventure R model. The new 390 Adventure S gets a TFT instrument console with all the electronic aids seen in the 390 Duke, along with a rally mode. The steel trellis frame sits on a fully adjustable suspension setup from WP Apex which comprises upside down front forks and a rear mono-shock.

The 390 Enduro R, on the other hand, is a more rugged off-road bike with bare bones equipment. It gets minimal bodywork and rolls on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels. Like the Adventure S, the Enduro R gets adjustable suspension but should offer more travel at both ends. It gets a relatively simpler LCD instrument panel. It even includes a dedicated button to deactivate the ABS for maximum off-road control. 

Despite dissimilarities, the 390 Adventure S and 390 Enduro R share some fundamental similarities as well. For instance, both are underpinned by the same steel trellis frame but most importantly 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine will be the same powerplant as the new 390 Duke launched last year. 

In the Duke 390, this motor pumps out 44.25 bhp and 39 Nm of peak torque. However, there may be changes to the gear ratios to make the motorcycles better suited for their purpose.
