Kinetic Zulu electric scooter launched at Rs 95k— gets 104 km IDC range

Kinetic Green currently retails four electric scooters namely– Zoom, Zing, Zing HSS, and Flex.

Kinetic Green, the electric vehicle (EV) arm of Kinetic which made iconic models like Luna and Kinetic Honda scooters, has launched a new electric scooter in the country. Named Zulu, the electric scooter is priced at Rs 94,990 (ex-showroom, Mumbai, inclusive of FAME II) for the standard battery pack.

The company has revealed that it will launch a variant with an oil-cooled battery setup at a later date which will be priced at Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai, inclusive of FAME II). The e-scooter is offered in six colour options including Pixel White, Insta Orange, UTube Red, Black X, FB Blue and Cloud Grey.

Kinetic Zulu: Design & features

The design of Zulu reflects Kinetic’s ‘Planet at our Heart’ philosophy. In other words, it gets a simple design of a modern and contemporary scooter with highlights headlamp mounted on the handlebar, apron-mounted LED DRLs, flat floorboard, body graphics, a single-piece seat, and a single-piece grab rail.

In terms of dimensions, the Zulu measures 1830 mm long, 715 mm wide and 1135 mm in height, with a ground clearance of 160 mm and a kerb weight of 93 kilograms. The e-scooter tips the weighing scale at 93 kg while it can carry a payload of up to 150kg. Zulu boasts of features such as a digital instrument console, ride modes, a boot light, and a side stand sensor.

Powering Zulu is a 2.1kW hub motor which derives its energy from a 2.27 kWh Li-ion battery. This powertrain claims a top speed of 60 kmph while single-charge range stands at 104 km. This should translate to around 70-75 km range in the real world. The standard variant is available with a 750 W charger which can recharge the battery in 4 hours. 

The oil-cooled battery unit will come with a 2.5 kW charger which can charge from 0 to 80 percent in 30 minutes. The battery is located beneath the under-seat storage area. Both the battery and motor setup have an IP67 rating. 

Kinetic Zulu: Ownership

Kinetic Green is offering Zulu through online retail platforms like Flipkart and Amazon. Besides this, the electric scooter will be offered with a battery subscription model. In this case, one purchases the scooter without the battery pack at a cost of around Rs 69,000. Owners then pay Rs 800 per month as a subscription cost for the battery.
