
Retro styling with modern technology is a fast growing trend in India. Looking at the evolution of this category, Kawasaki will soon introduce the W800, a retro-styled motorcycle which has already been spotted at a dealership in Pune and is expected to be launched in 2017. When launched in India, the W800 will compete with the Triumph Bonneville range along with other motorcycles in the same segment.
The W800 is powered by a 773 cc, V-twin engine that produces 47 hp of power and 60 Nm of torque which is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle will have a 330mm twin-piston caliper at the front and 160mm drum brakes at the rear for braking and the suspension system features a telescopic fork at the front and twin coil spring shock absorbers at the rear. The motorcycle also features a round headlight, chrome mud guards and spokes in line with the retro theme.The Kawasaki W800 is expected to hover around Rs. 10 lakh, ex-showroom however the company has not confirmed if the motorcycle will be brought via CBU(Completely Built Unit) or the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route.
Earlier this year, Kawasaki Motor Indonesia launched the W800 at the 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The company introduced the retro-style motorcycle at price of Rs IDR 249 million (INR 12.72 lakhs) for the standard edition and IDR 251 million (INR 12.82 lakhs) for the special edition.
