Kawasaki quietly introduced the Ninja ZX-4RR in the Indian market a couple of days ago. It is the most powerful 400cc motorcycle in Kawasaki’s lineup. Priced at a whopping Rs 9.10 lakh (ex-showroom), Kawasaki brings the Ninja ZX-4RR to India as a fully-imported CBU model that too in limited numbers.
This makes it the third 400cc Ninja in the Kawasaki India portfolio after Ninja 400 and Ninja ZX-4R, with the ZX-4RR sitting on top of the range. Let us look at how the Ninja ZX-4RR differs from the ZX-4R in terms of specs, features, and specs.

Design of both middleweight sports bikes are the same with the only difference telling them apart are distinct colour schemes. The ZX-4R comes in a metallic Black Spark whereas the ZX-4RR comes in a lime green/ebony colour scheme. The latter also benefits from the KRT graphics which the former earlier offered. Further, the Ninja ZX-4RR is priced Rs. 61,000 dearer than the Ninja ZX-4R which is priced at Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Both bikes come equipped with features such as a 4.3-inch digital instrument console with selectable display modes– Normal and Circuit, four riding modes – Sports, Road, Rain and Rider; two power modes, Kawasaki’s Rideology App, and a traction control system with three settings. Hardware configuration on both models are more or less similar.
Suspension duties on the ZX-4RR are carried out by 37mm Separate Function Big Piston Front USD forks and a linked rear monoshock with preload adjustability. On the other hand, the ZX-4R comes with SFF-BP forks and a monoshock but these aren’t adjustable. Braking is handled by dual 290 mm front discs and a 220 mm disc at the rear for both the ZX-4RR and the ZX-4R.

Both the Ninjas use the same 399cc four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a bi-directional quickshifter and a slipper clutch. but dish out different outputs. In the ZX-4R, this engine churns out 77 bhp and 37.6 Nm of peak torque. In the ZX-4RR, it pumps out 80 bhp and 39 Nm of peak torque.
