Kawasaki has pulled the plug on the Ninja 400 from the Indian market. This comes a few months after the Japanese sports bike brand introduced the all-new Ninja 500 in our country. In fact, the new Ninja 500 is heavily based on the Ninja 400 and the former was launched as a direct replacement for the latter.
Ninja 400 was first launched in India in 2018 as a fully-imported CBU model at a price tag of Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom), but was temporarily withdrawn from sale in April 2020 due to implementation of BS6 emissions norms. The entry-level sports bike made a brief comeback in 2022 before being delisted from Kawasaki’s India website recently.
Kawasaki launched Ninja 500 in February this year, and both the bikes were sold together till the inventory of Ninja 400 lasted. During the last couple of months, Ninja 400 was sold at a discount of Rs 40,000, bringing its price down to Rs 4,84,000 (all ex-showroom). The Ninja 400 bridged the gap between the Ninja 300 and Ninja 650.
