Kawasaki unveiled the Ninja 500 and the Z500 at EICMA, and the latter was launched in Europe recently. When the motorcycles were unveiled, they were said to replace the Ninja 400, but the even bigger question was not if Kawasaki would launch the motorcycles in India, but when it be launched. The answer is soon.
As per details by a Kawasaki dealership in Bangalore, the Ninja 500 and the Z500 will be launched in India in late March or early April. Bookings for the two motorcycles are not open yet and will commence soon, probably next month.
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 and the Z500 share a lot of components, such as the engine, suspension, frame, brakes, tyres, instrument console, and more, while the former is a fully-faired sport tourer and the latter is a street naked.
Powering the motorcycles is a 451cc, parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that makes 45.4bhp and 42.6Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. There will be no quickshifter on offer but will get a slip and assist clutch. When launched, expect the motorcycles to carry a price tag of approximately Rs 5 lakh ex-showroom.
