Elvington Airfield in York hosted stuntman Jonny Davies, who set the new world record for the fastest motorcycle skiing. Davies, aboard a supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX, set the world record for the fastest motorcycle skiing at 159.522mph (256.72kmph).

The two-time British stunt riding champion and two-time world record holder added another feather to his hat on August 18, being dragged behind his motorcycle to set the new record.

Davies smashed the previous record of 156.3mph (251.54kmph) set by Gary Rothwell from Liverpool, who set the record in 1999 on a Suzuki Hayabusa. Davies set the new record on his second official attempt of the day.

The British rider jumped off the motorcycle at 110mph (177kmph) and used a second throttle on the rear grab handle of the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX to set the record. Davies wore specially made titanium boots to help ski off the back of the motorcycle.

The Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX is a sport tourer, powered by a supercharged 998cc, in-line four-cylinder engine that makes 197bhp and 137Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox. To set the new world record, H2 SX was supplied by Kawasaki UK.
