The launch of the Aprilia Tuono 457 has set expectations high for the company’s next product — the Tuareg 457. While enthusiasts are eager, there is one person who can’t wait — John Abraham, renowned Bollywood actor and Aprilia’s brand ambassador. However, Aprilia’s top man, Diego Graffi, says not yet.
At the launch of the Aprilia Tuono 457, an interaction with Joh Abraham revealed how much he wanted the Tuareg 457 in India, given that mid-size adventure motorcycles have seen massive growth globally and being the brand ambassador for Aprilia, he wants the company to launch the Tuareg 457 here.
Aprilia’s Diego Graffi says otherwise
Graffi, the CEO and Managing Director, Piaggio Vehicles, says that the company’s current focus is on the RS457 and the Tuono 457. Without dismissing the fact on the Tuareg, he says that we are not just looking at India, but at the global markets and this approach – of launching the RS457 and Tuono 457 – is a faster way of return on investment.
Aprilia has invested a huge amount of money on these two motorcycles and they were built completely ground-up, from the chassis to the engine. They are built exclusively in India and shipped to markets around the world. Also, the Aprilia RS457 and Tuono 457 share a lot in common, the chassis being the biggest among others. For the Tuareg, the chassis will need some tweaking and Aprilia will not focus on that right now.

While the Tuareg 457 was seen testing some time back, however, it looked like a one-off, built for motorsport purposes. The motorcycle will be a capable off-road machine, similar to the new 390 Adventure, however, the chassis will need some tweaks, primarily to make it stronger. The current setup the Tuono 457 gets – the larger rear sprocket – will suit the adventure world with its low-end grunt.
