After a quiet period that seemed like eternity, Indian Motorcycle is back, with the launch of the Scout series, which is priced at Rs 12.99 lakh onwards, ex-showroom. The new range of the Indian Scout now consists of eight models in total, and they can be had with a 999cc V-twin or a larger 1,250cc V-twin engine. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the models, pricing, and features.
New Indian Scout Sixty range explained
The Scout Sixty is the entry-level offering in the Scout range, and it comes in three models: Scout Sixty Classic, Scout Sixty Bobber and Sport Scout Sixty. All three models are underpinned by the same chassis and suspension setup; however, the key differences between them are their styling.
The Scout Classic lives up to its name with traditional styling, while the Bobber features a stripped-down design with blacked-out parts. The Scout Sixty features a headlight cowl, which also receives the same all-black treatment.
New Indian Scout range
The larger Indian Scout range consists of five models: Scout Classic, Scout Bobber, Sport Scout, Super Scout and 101 Scout. The first three models get the same treatment as the Scout Sixty, but the Super Scout gets a touring windscreen and leather saddlebags.
The 101 Scout is the range topper and gets some interesting bits such as USD forks, twin gas-charged rear shocks, and radially-mounted Brembo monoblock brakes. The engine also gets more power, making 111bhp and 109Nm of torque compared to the other 1250s, which make 105bhp and 108Nm of torque. The Scout Sixty, on the other hand, makes 85bhp and 88Nm of torque with the help of a five-speed gearbox.
Indian Scout range: Features and equipment
The Scout range is further divided into more trims based on their equipment. The Scout Sixty comes in Standard and Limited. The former gets a semi-digital instrument cluster, LED lighting and dual-channel ABS, while the Limited Edition brings traction control, three riding modes (Sport, Standard and Tour), cruise control, more paint schemes and a USB charger.
The larger Scout range – apart from the 101 Scout – gets a Limited +Tech version, which brings a 4-inch colour TFT touchscreen with navigation, towing and accident alerts, a vehicle locator and more. This version also gets keyless ignition. The new Indian Scout 101 comes in a single variant with all the features the Limited +Tech pack offers as standard.
