It’s an open secret that Triumph Motorcycles is working on two new 400 cc motorcycles — the Thruxton 400 and Scrambler 400 XE, both of which were spotted testing in Europe. The two motorcycles are expected to make their debut in India. Currently, Triumph offers three 400 cc motorcycle models in India — Speed T4, Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X.
Triumph Scrambler 400 XE
The Scrambler 400 XE is expected to be a more rugged version of the current 400 X. Leaked images show spoked wheels, a first for the Scrambler 400, as the 400 X comes with alloy wheels. It is expected to be tubeless as it’s ideal for off-roading and tackling challenging riding conditions. The Scrambler 400 XE sports a mini visor shielding the instrument cluster, a raised front fender and an updated suspension set-up with taller wheel travel. The spy shots reveal a newly designed engine guard.Â
Triumph Thruxton 400

The Thruxton has been caught doing test runs in India and looks similar to the Indian model. It sports a fairing, aggressive riding stance, clip-on handlebars and a swept-up exhaust.
Engine Specifications
The Thruxton 400 and the Scrambler 400 XE will be powered by a 398.15 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. Barring the Speed T4, the rest of the bikes in the 400 cc lineup churn out 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm and are mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The two motorcycles will be based on a hybrid spine perimeter and tubular steel frame.
