Honda Rebel to get e-clutch technology, but there’s a catch

Honda is expanding its e-clutch lineup with its motorcycles, and the latest to join the range will be the Rebel 250 series – Rebel 250 cruiser and the CL250 scrambler – which follow the four-cylinder 650 twins. However, unlike the CBR650R and the CB650R, the Honda Rebel 250 series is not sold in India.

Honda Rebel 250 e-clutch — How different is the motorcycle?

The Honda Rebel 250 cruiser and the scrambler look identical to the motorcycles with a manual clutch, sporting the same design as well. They have a muscular fuel tank with a sleek seat, with most of the engine and other bits blacked out. The big difference between the cruiser and the scrambler is the exhaust, which the latter has an upswept unit.

That said, the motorcycles also use the same engine and gearbox. The only difference is the extra casing on the clutch casing, which adds an additional 2kg to the overall weight of the motorcycle. The motorcycles also feature the same equipment, such as telescopic forks, dual rear shocks, and alloy wheels.

The addition of an e-clutch helps new riders shift gears manually, come to a complete stop, and pull away without having to use the clutch, making it easy. The clutch can also be used manually.
