Two-wheelers are the highest-selling form of automobiles in India, and the commuter segment plays a crucial role for OEMs. This said, the 100cc motorcycle segment is key for two-wheeler makers and one name that has been at the top of the game is the Heo Splendor. For the last 30 years, Hero’s been at the top of the game with the Splendor and to celebrate that, the company has launched the Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0, priced at Rs 82,911, ex-showroom.

Now, similar to any segment, competition in the 100cc segment is intense and the new Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 competes with two primary rivals, the Honda Shine 100 and the Bajaj Platina, both of which are best-sellers for Honda and Bajaj. On paper, the Platina has the largest displacement while the Splendor makes the most power. They all make around 8Nm of torque, however, the Platina returns the most mileage amongst the three motorcycles.

On the equipment front, all three motorcycles have telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, alloy wheels, drum brakes at both ends, kick and electric start, and comfortable seats. That said, the Platina is the only motorcycle on offer with an optional disc brake with ABS, while the Platina and Shine get 17-inch wheels, and the Splendor gets 18-inch ones.

On the features front, these motorcycles offer no fancy electronics and come with basic instrumentation. However, the Splendor takes it a step ahead with Bluetooth connectivity, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a USB charger.
