KTM India has decided to pull the plugs on two of its entry-level offerings in India — the 125 Duke and RC125. The two motorcycles will not be on sale from April 1 onwards. However, for those looking to buy these motorcycles, a few dealers still have stock, and this is a great time to get some lucrative discounts on the two motorcycles.

KTM 125 Duke and RC 125 — Why discontinue them?

The 125cc segment is popular in India, however, it is slowly gaining sport vehicles such as the Pulsar N125 and the Xtreme 125. KTM’s offering is quite premium, and this has resulted in weak sales. Looking at the numbers, KTM has decided not to invest in the motorcycles more to get them OBD2B compliant.

In the segment, the KTM 125 Duke and the RC125 are the only motorcycles to get a liquid-cooled motor mated to a six-speed gearbox. The 125cc engine makes 14.34 bhp and 12 Nm of torque. The motorcycles feature USD forks, disc brakes at both ends, and switchable ABS — all being far ahead of their time for the segment.

What other sporty options does the 125cc segment have?

Apart from the two KTM options, customers looking for something sporty can cheese between the Bajaj Pulsar N125, TVS Raider, and the Hero Xtreme 125R. Amongst the motorcycles, the KTM 125 Duke is the most expensive, however, the KTM RC125 has no direct rivals. The KTM 125 Duke is priced even higher than the Yamaha MT-15, which makes more power and is a fun-to-ride motorcycle.
