Royal Enfield has launched the Classic 650 starting from Rs 3.37 lakh, ex-showroom. The Classic nameplate is the two-wheeler company’s best-selling motorcycle and now the 650cc version is expected to push the sales further. Before you sign on the dotted line or click to buy the Classic 650, there are five things that you should keep in mind.
Royal Enfield Classic 650: Engine Specifications
The Classic is powered by a 647.95cc air-oil cooled parallel-twin engine with an output of 46.3 bhp at 7250 rpm and 52.3 Nm at 5650 rpm. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the engine will offer a strong low-end torque for a responsive yet easy acceleration. Unlike a single-cylinder engine, the 650cc gets a counter-balancer shaft, which reduces the vibration and improves the ride quality for both daily commutes and highway cruising.
Royal Enfield Classic 650: Design
Royal Enfield has retained the heritage post-war British design for the Classic 650, which balances the retro look with modern touches. It sports the signature teardrop fuel tank, with iconic tiger eyes or twin pilot lamps, an LED headlight and taillight and twin chrome polished exhausts. Royal Enfield has upped the premium quotient of the Classic 650 as the rotary switches’ casing now gets an aluminium finish.
Royal Enfield Classic 650: Hardware
Based on the Steel Tubular Spine Frame, like the Royal Enfield Shot Gun 650, the Classic 650 comes with a removable pillion seat. The 43mm front forks have a wheel travel of 120mm and the Showa twin rear shocks have 90mm travel. The Classic 650 has a ground clearance of 154mm and a seat height of 800mm. The front 19-inch wheel sports a 320mm disc brake while the rear 18-inch comes with a 300mm disc.
