Ducati Desmo450 MX India launch on cards next year

Interestingly, the Ducati XDiavel V4 will come to India at a “later” stage even though the power cruiser has already been listed on the company’s official India website.

Ducati has one of the widest range of products in the performance motorcycle segment. From naked streetfighters and fully-faired superbikes to adventure tourers and scramblers, the Italian brand offers almost all types of motorcycles available. Motocross is one segment where Ducati hadn’t established its presence until recently.

In 2024, the Bologna-based superbike brand entered the Motocross space with the Desmo450 MX which recently made its professional debut at the MXGP Argentina a few days ago. That said, the Desmo450 MX is yet to make its debut in the consumer market which is expected to happen sometime later this year.

Although the Motocross bikes aren’t a huge market in India, Ducati has revealed that it will give it a shot. This development was confirmed during a recent interaction with Bipul Chandra, Managing Director, Ducati India, on the sidelines of the launch of the new Ducati Panigale V4. While Chandra didn’t divulge any specific details about the bike, he revealed that this bike will come to India next year.

The Desmo 450 MX is currently the only Motocross bike in Ducati’s stable. Select Ducati dealerships across the world have started accepting orders for the Desmo 450 MX. As of now, the company hasn’t revealed the detailed specifications of the motorcycle. It is yet to be determined if the Motocross coming to India will be road legal or not. Our guess is that it won’t. The only other prominent names in the Motocross space in India are Kawasaki and KTM.

Ducati other prospective models

Besides a Motocross, Chandra revealed Ducati will have a series of other launches for this year and the next year. This includes a couple of bikes in the Scrambler range. Currently, Ducati offers two dedicated Scrambler lineups in the country: Scrambler 1100 and Scrambler 2G. The former comprises 1100 Sport Pro, 1100 Tribute Pro, and 1100 Dark Pro. On the other hand, the Scrambler 2G range consists of Icon, Full Throttle and Nightshift.

Chandra also confirmed the launch of a Multistrada V4 facelift and an all-new Streetfighter V4 in India in the next few months. The former made its international debut in September last year whereas the latter broke cover in November 2024. This will be followed by the V2 range based on a new platform including Panigale, Streetfighter, and Multistrada which will most likely be headed to India next year.

Interestingly, Chandra revealed the XDiavel V4 will come to India at a “later” stage even though the power cruiser has already been listed on Ducati’s official India website. Globally unveiled last month, the XDiavel V4 is a successor to the outgoing XDiavel 1260. It is powered by a 1,158cc, Granturismo V4 engine that dishes out 168 bhp at 10,750 rpm and a peak torque of 126 Nm at 7,500rpm.
