BMW is updating its 1300cc segment — it started with the R 1300 GS, followed by the R 1300 GSA, then the R 1300R, and now the R 1300 RT, which will make its debut today. The new BMW R 1300 RT will replace the 1250 RT and as we’ve seen with the other 1300 models, it will receive a comprehensive update. Let’s take a closer look.

New BMW R 1300 RT — What to expect?

The upcoming R 1300 RT will be based on a new chassis, which will feature a sheet metal construction instead of the older steel tubular frame and will get a cast aluminium sub frame. This will make the motorcycle lighter and sharper to handle.

A spyshot of the motorcycle from a while back shows updates to the design such as vertically stacked headlights, while the fairing sees changes as well. Overall, the motorcycle will retain its familiar design but will get updates, similar to the other 1300cc models.

The biggest update will be the engine and powering the new R 1300 RT will be the 1300cc liquid-cooled boxer twin that will make 145bhp and 147Nm of torque with the help of a six-speed gearbox. BMW is likely to equip the motorcycle with the new automatic gearbox as well. The motorcycle will also retain the long list of electronic aids and riding modes.

The BMW R 1250 RT carries a price tag of Rs 24.95 lakh, ex-showroom, and we can expect the updated R 1300 RT to carry a higher price tag. Stay tuned as more updates will be known later today.
