BMW Motorrad has launched the M 1000 R in India at a starting price of Rs 33 lakh. It is offered in two variants– standard and Competition— the latter priced at Rs 38 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The motorcycle made its global debut, along with its fully-faired sibling– M 1000 RR, around the same time last year.
Available as a completely built-up unit (CBU), the flagship naked streetfighter from the German marque motorcycle can be pre-ordered at all BMW Motorrad India authorised dealerships from today onwards. Deliveries for the M 1000 RR will begin in January 2024.
BMW M 1000 R: Design
Stripped of all body panels, the M 1000 R carries forward the same sporty and ultra-aggressive riding stance as its fully-faired counterpart. The overall design is very sleek and sharp courtesy of the new M Winglets and M Carbon wheels. The winglets produce significantly more aerodynamic downforce— both when riding upright and when leaning around corners.

The carbon wheels get a new lacquer coat that brings out the high-quality, deep black shimmering carbon fibre structure even more intensively. The brake ducts are integrated into the new front mudguards, which have been optimised for improved airflow around the fork legs and brake callipers.
The Competition package adds some cosmetic upgrades over the standard model including a special Blackstorm Metallic / M Motorsport colour scheme, M Carbon wheels, M rider footrest along with other M Carbon parts such as rear wheel cover and chain guard, front wheel cover, tank covers, airbox cover with tapes.
BMW M 1000 R: Powertrain, hardware specs
Powering the M 1000 R is a 999cc, water-cooled inline 4-cylinder engine which pumps out 209 bhp at 14,500 rpm and a peak torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm. As for performance, the M 1000 R can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 280 kmph. There are five ride modes to choose from— Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race and Race Pro1-3.

In terms of hardware, the flagship naked streetfighter gets fully adjustable suspension at both ends, featuring 45 mm USD front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking duties are handled by 320 mm twin disc brakes up front and a single 220 mm disc brake at the rear, aided by dual-channel ABS.
