BMW F900 GS, F900 GS Adventure launched in India at Rs 13.75 lakh

The new F900 GS sits below the R1300 GS in BMW Motorrad’s adventure touring lineup.

BMW Motorrad has finally launched the F900 GS and the F900 GS Adventure in India. The former is priced at Rs 13.75 lakh while the latter is priced at Rs 14.75 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The F900 GS range is a direct replacement for the outgoing F850 GS. Both variants come as fully-imported  Completely Built-Up (CBU) models.

Bookings for the same commenced last month while deliveries of the new ADV tourers will begin next month. The F900 GS and the F900 GS Adventure will be available in two colour options each. 

The former can be availed in either the Style Passion variant in São Paulo Yellow solid paint or in the “GS Trophy” variant with a dual-tone combination of Light White solid paint and Racing blue metallic. On the other hand, the F900 GS Adventure can be had in a Blackstorm metallic (also for the fuel tank centre cover) and a matte White Aluminium colour options.

BMW F900 GS, GS Adventure: Specs

Powering both the variants is a 895cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder in-line engine that dishes out 104 bhp at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 93 Nm at 6,750 rpm. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. This engine is nestled within a bridge-type chassis which connects to the rear wheel via a double-sided aluminium swingarm directly linked to a central spring strut.

BMW says the riding triangle of the new F900 GS has been optimised for better off-road usage. In comparison to its predecessor, the handlebars of the new F900 GS  are now positioned 15 mm higher than on the previous model. In addition, the now standard Enduro footrests are positioned 20 mm lower, in conjunction with the higher handlebar position and the new design of the fuel tank, making it easier for the rider to stand up while riding on rough terrains.

In terms of features, the F900 GS gets full LED illumination as standard, multiple riding modes, power modes, heated handlebar grips,  traction control, ABS, a bi-directional quick shifter, a USB charging port, and a 6.5-inch colour TFT instrument panel. The instrumentation offers Bluetooth connectivity which calls and text alerts in addition to navigation and listening to music.

Customers can further opt from a wide range of BMW accessories to customise the new F900 GS range according to their liking. That said, both variants have their fair share of differences which make them distinct. For instance, the standard F 900 GS is optimised for off-road excursions and hence boasts of a  minimal, rally-inspired bodywork, a lower kerb weight of 226 kg, a seat height of 870mm, and a slightly smaller 14.5-litre fuel tank. 

In contrast, the Adventure trim is designed as a versatile all-rounder, featuring a larger 23-litre fuel tank for extended range, and a seat height of 875mm.
