Seems like the date is nearing for those looking at the BMW F 450 GS, as two prototypes have been seen testing in India. The motorcycles were in heavy camo, however, the twin-cylinder engine was a huge giveaway, along with the design. Expected to launch later this year, the new BMW F 450 GS will be replacing the G 310 GS, which is now discontinued.
BMW F 450 GS: More details
The motorcycle looks closer to its production form and most of the design details resemble the concept that was showcased at EICMA late last year. The F 450 GS is a scaled-down version of the larger F 900 GS, and sports a typical adventure motorcycle design with a tall fairing.
The BMW F 450 GS concept was equipped with USD forks, a monoshock at the rear, a single-piece seat, spoke wheels, and a TFT instrument cluster. The test mule features all of them, however, it is seen with alloy wheels, hinting that there could be multiple versions of the production motorcycle. The F 450 GS is also expected to get a comprehensive suite of electronic aids.
Powering the motorcycle is a brand new 450cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder unit that makes 48bhp with the help of a six-speed gearbox. In India, the new F 450 GS will compete with the recently launched KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan. In terms of pricing, expect the F 450 GS to cost around Rs 4.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
