Bajaj to launch new affordable EV Chetak 3001

Aiming to claim the top spot in the two-wheeler EV market, Bajaj Auto will soon introduce a new budget-friendly Chetak variant.

We had reported this earlier and now Bajaj Auto is all set to launch its entry-level second-generation Chetak soon. Reports suggest that the new electric scooter is going to be called Chetak 3001. According to Vahan data, the electric two-wheeler industry registered 1,00,266 units in May 2025, which is a 30% year-on-year growth. Bajaj Auto took the runners-up position in May with 21,770 units behind TVS Motor, which sold 24,560 units. Ola Electric took the third place with sales of 18,499 units. 

Bajaj Chetak 3001: What to expect?

Currently, Bajaj Auto has not yet confirmed whether the new Chetak 3001 will be a replacement for the 2903 model, which is the most affordable trim. Either way, the new variant is expected to improve Bajaj’s sales numbers. The Chetak 3001 is expected to be powered by the new 3.1 kW electric motor with an expected top speed of 62 kmph. Apart from this, it will be powered by a 3 kWh battery. 

The Chetak 2903 comes with a 2.9 kWh battery with a top speed of 63 kmph and a claimed range of 123 km. It has a charging time of 0 – 80% in 4 hours. 

Bajaj Chetak 3001: Dimensions

Bajaj will retain the Chetaks’s classic design along with its current dimensions. The length of the Chetak 3001 will be 1,914 mm, 1,143 mm in height and 725 mm in width. The electric scooter’s ground clearance is 168 mm and rides on 12-inch wheels in front and rear. 

Bajaj Chetak 3001: Current lineup

As mentioned earlier, Chetak’s most affordable trim is the 2903 followed by Chetak 3503, Chetak 3502 and the top-of-the-line model, the Chetak 3501. The second generation Chetak’s line starts from Rs 1.10 lakh for 3503, the 3502 at Rs 1.22 lakh and Rs 1.34 lakh for 3501. The Chetak 3001 is expected to be priced around Rs 1 lakh, ex-showroom.
