Bajaj is on overdrive mode as the Indian two-wheeler company is gearing up to launch a more budget-friendly Chetak in June. Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto, indicated at the company’s earnings call that the company is working on an updated version of the Chetak 2903 model, which is the entry-level electric scooter. The new model will officially make its debut in June.
Bajaj Chetak: Launch timeline of entry-level variant
Currently, the Chetak portfolio is available in four variants starting from the 2903, 3501, 3502 and 3503. After Chetak topped the sales charts in the electric scooter segment in Q4, Bajaj wants to further diversify its affordable range. Sharma said at the earnings call said the increasing popularity of the Chetak brand, noting a substantial rise in market share. This momentum propelled Chetak to the number one spot in India’s electric two-wheeler segment during the fourth quarter, with Bajaj capturing a commanding 29% share of the e-scooter market.

Sharma announced, “With the introduction of the third 35 Series variant, the 3503, at the end of May 2025, and an upgraded entry-level 2903 in June, the Chetak portfolio will become more robust. Additional variants are also planned for FY26 to tap into emerging sub-segments.”
Bajaj Chetak: What specifications to expect?
The Chetak 2903 is powered by a 2.9 kWh battery with a range of 123 km. It charges to 100% in 4 hours and has a top speed of 63 kmph. It features hill hold and two ride modes — Eco and Sport. It is priced at Rs 98,498, ex-showroom.
The new updated version is expected to be equipped with the 35 Series’ battery, the 3.5 kWh battery with a range of 153 km. Based on the entry-level model of the 35 Series, the 3503, the new variant could get a larger under-seat storage of 35 litres of boot space and a top speed up to 63 kmph. It charges from 0 – 80 % in 3 hours and 25 minutes and offers a range of 151 km. It will be equipped with two ride modes — Eco and Sport.
Bajaj Chetak: Price
Bajaj Chetak’s new-generation 35 Series is available in three variants — 3503 at Rs 102,500, 3502 at Rs 122,499 and 3501 at Rs 122,500, all ex-showroom prices. The new updated variant is expected to be priced under Rs 1 lakh.
