Ather Energy is working on a new generation family scooter which will be starkly contrasting to the present performance driven Ather 450 range. There was plenty of conjecture around its name, until recently a couple of weeks back when company Co-founder and CEO, Tarun Mehta, announced the official name of the upcoming electric scooter.
In a recent Tweet, Mehta confirmed that the upcoming e-scooter will be named ‘Rizta’. The scooter has been deemed as a practical and family friendly commuter from the Bengaluru-based EV startup. In line with the same, Mehta has posted another Tweet which speaks of its enhanced practicality.
The latest Tweet comes with the image showing the larger single-piece seat that will be on offer in Rizta. The seat is visibly bigger than the other single-piece unit shown in the image which Mehta says is offered in one of unnamed rival e-scooters currently on sale in the market. This affirms more real estate and a comfortable riding experience for both the rider and the pillion.
Ather Rizta: What to expect?
Although very little is known about the Rizta, from the couple of times it has been spotted testing, it is clear that Ather now wants to target an audience looking for a family scooter in the battery-powered segment that offers convenience and practicality. The spy shots revealed that the scooter will flaunt a completely different design from the current Ather 450s.
It is also set to feature a wide and flat floorboard and generous real estate for the seat which will check the criterias mentioned above. We can expect Ather to offer two battery pack options with the upcoming Rizta. It could also offer a 7.0-inch ‘DeepView’ LCD instrumentation – first introduced on the 450S. Ather will unveil the upcoming e-scooter at Ather Community Day Celebration 2024 later in June this year.
