Ather Energy is one of the few electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers in India to have successfully created a sustainable business module by delivering reliable battery-powered two-wheelers. The Ather 450X was one of the first made-in-India premium electric scooters that offered a host of modern tech and features and backed it up with good performance.
Ather 450X with transparent panels
The Bengaluru-based EV startup is bringing back transparent panels on one of its upcoming models. The same has been confirmed by Tarun Mehta, CEO and C-Founder, Ather Energy, on his social media handle with a partial image of the upcoming electric scooter.
For the uninitiated, back in 2020, Ather launched a special Collector’s Edition for a select few early adopters of 450X Series 1 e-scooters. This limited edition model came with translucent body panels wrapped in a black paint scheme with contrasting red highlights. The social media post from Mehta further reveals that this time it will get fully transparent panels unlike the translucent panels in the limited edition Series 1 model.
Reports suggest that the upcoming model with transparent panels will be called Series 2 and going by the glimpse of the same, it is likely to garner polarising opinions. The upcoming special edition model could mark the company’s 10th anniversary since its inception. However, it is unclear whether the upcoming Series 2 will carry the same specs as the current Gen3 450X or offer something different.

It must be noted that Ather offered significant updates to the 450X earlier in October this year which now comes with two battery options– 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh. The Series 2 e-scooter is also likely to receive some additional features over the standard model along with some sports body graphics and decals.
Taking a closer look at the images shared by Mehta on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, it clearly mentions that it runs on a Snapdragon 660 series 3.3 GHz quad-core processor. More details regarding the upcoming Series 2 electric scooter are likely to be revealed as it nears its official launch which is expected in a couple of months.
