Adventure bikes are hot-selling in India and with motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan and KTM 390 Adventure battling it out, BMW will soon enter the segment with the F 450 GS, which will be made by TVS in India. That said, there is a missing player — Aprilia. The Italian company has already got two offerings, the RS457 and the recently launched Tuono 457. So the missing link here — Tuareg 457.
Aprilia has not ruled out the chances for the Tuareg 457, but the company is just not ready yet and wants to concentrate on the RS457 and the Tuono 457. However, when launched at a later period, it will compete with the BMW F 450 GS, which will be launched later this year. Based on the RS457 and the Tuono 457, we have a basic understanding of what the Tuareg 457 will be and here’s how it will compare against the F 450 GS.
Aprilia Tuareg 457 vs BMW F 450 GS: Features and hardware

Based on the Aprilia RS457 and the Tuono 457, we can safely assume that the Tuareg 457 will get adjustable USD forks, a monoshock at the rear, a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel with spokes, a TFT instrument console, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, and a host of electronic aids such as traction control and ride modes.
The BMW F 450 GS is a totally new motorcycle and gets adjustable USD forks, a monoshock, LED lights, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, ride modes, wire-spoke wheels, a TFT instrument console, and enough electronics to keep up with the GS name tag. On the equipment and features front, both motorcycles will be well-equipped.
Aprilia Tuareg 457 vs BMW F 450 GS: Engine specifications

In terms of power, both motorcycles will use a liquid-cooled parallel-twin cylinder engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. We can safely base the Aprilia Tuareg 457’s specifications on the RS457 and the Tuono 457, again, while BMW has revealed the specifications of the F 450 GS already.
Engine specifications | Tuareg 457 | F 450 GS |
Displacement | 457 cc, twin | 450 cc, twin |
Power | 47 bhp | 48 bhp |
Torque | 44 Nm | NA |
Gearbox | 6-Speed | 6-Speed |
The two motorcycle make identical power with similar engine displacements and the final verdict between the two will come down to the weight, and of course, the pricing. We expect both motorcycles to be priced around the Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom) price bracket.
