With the launch of the Aprilia RS660 and the Tuono 660, India gets two new middleweight motorcycles. The former is a super sport while the latter is a street naked and both motorcycles are based on the larger RSV4 and Tuono litre-class motorcycles.

At first glimpse, both motorcycles may look similar, apart from the fairings, however, they have several differences, ranging from their performance to electronics. Here are the similarities and differences between the Aprilia RS660 and Tuono 660.

Aprilia RS660 and Tuono 660: Similarities

Let’s tick off all the similarities first. The RS660 and the Tuono 660 are both built around the same chassis, suspension setup, brakes, engine, headlight design, wheels, and digital display. On the electronics front, the motorcycles get traction control, wheelie control, ride modes, ride-by-wire, and a 6-speed gearbox.

Both motorcycles also get 48mm throttle bodies and make identical torque, 67 Nm. Both the motorcycles have 130mm rear suspension travel as well. This makes one wonder, then what’s the difference between them?

Aprilia RS660 and Tuono 660: Differences

Let’s start with the most obvious, the fairings. The RS660 gets a full fairing, while the Tuono 660 gets a half fairing. That said, the Tuono also gets a shorter screen. The next difference is in the ergonomics as the RS660 is more committed compared to the Tuono.

While both motorcycles share the same 659cc parallel-twin engine, the RS660 makes 98.5 bhp and its naked sibling makes 94 bhp. In terms of equipment as well, they both get adjustable 41mm Kayaba suspension at both ends, but the RS660 has 10mm more travel compared to the Tuono.

Then come the electronics. They do get a host of nannies, but the RS660 gets a quickshifter as standard and a six-axis inertial platform, giving the super sport cornering ABS, while the Tuono misses out on this feature.
