2026 Kawasaki ZX-10R launched with a price hike

Kawasaki has launched the 2026 ZX-10R in India, which sees a price hike and a drop in power. So, should you opt for it or the older model?

2026 Kawasaki ZX-10R launched with a price hike

Kawasaki has launched the 2026 ZX-10R in India, priced at Rs 19.49 lakh, ex-showroom. This is an increase of Rs 99,000 when compared to the 2025 Kawasaki ZX-10R, which is also on sale alongside the updated model. Here’s a look at the details of the new Kawasaki ZX-10R.

2026 Kawasaki ZX-10R: What are the updates?

The 2026 Kawasaki ZX-10R retains the overall design of the older model, including the sharp fairing, twin headlight set-up, and the colour scheme. The Kawasaki ZX-10R is one of the most recognisable models in the litre-class segment and is also one of the best-looking motorcycles.

The equipment, too, remains unchanged with the 2026 version of the ZX-10R, as the motorcycle is suspended by fully adjustable Showa BFF forks and a Showa BFRC rear monoshock. Stopping power comes via dual 330mm front discs and a single 220mm rear disc clamped by Brembo callipers. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels and gets full LED lighting.

The electronic suite comprises of multiple riding modes, dual-channel ABS, cruise control, launch control, engine brake control, and traction control. The motorcycle also gets a TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity.

However, what has changed is in the engine department. The 2026 Kawasaki ZX-10R is powered by the same 999 cc, liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed gearbox with a quickshifter. The engine now makes 193.1 bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque, as compared to the older models 200 bhp. It is unclear as to why Kawasaki has dropped the power on the motorcycle.

2026 Kawasaki ZX-10R: What are the alternatives?

While the increase in price and drop in power seem to be a bummer for potential customers, there is another option from Kawasaki itself — the 2025 ZX-10R. As mentioned earlier, the 2025 model is still on sale and adding the lower price tag, along with the discounts Kawasaki is offering, the 2025 model makes more sense.

Other options in the litre-class category include motorcycles from Ducati and BMW, as Suzuki, Yamaha, and Honda don’t sell their flagship litre-class sport bikes in India currently. The two European alternatives are priced way higher than the ZX-10R, making Kawasaki the only sensible option.
