Benelli has unveiled a new adventure motorcycle in its lineup– the TRK 552X. Introduced in China, the new TRK 552X is an upgrade over the outgoing TRK 502X which is expected to be phased out gradually. Besides better performance, the new TRK 552X gets aesthetic updates over its predecessor too.
Benelli TRK 552X: Styling & features
Starting with its styling, the TRK 552X gets a similar sharp beak up front as the outgoing model. However, a taller windscreen and a wider twin-pod LED headlamp gives it a more prominent appearance. Furthermore, it gets wider fairings that blend in with a larger fuel tank. The tail section remains more or less similar, featuring a luggage rack integrated into a chunky grab rail and a tyre hugger.

Add-ons such as hand guards, wire-spoke wheels, panniers and top boxes accentuate the bike adventure touring DNA. Other features included in the package are a five-inch full-colour TFT screen for rider’s information, Bluetooth connectivity, multiple display modes and also tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Built using the same trellis frame, the display on the TRK 552X features a built-in tyre pressure monitoring system and multiple display modes. Also present is dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) as standard. Sadly, this Benelli doesn’t get multiple riding modes or a traction control system as bikes in this segment usually get.
Benelli TRK 552X: Mechanical specs
The steel trellis frame sits on fancy Marzocchi upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock at both ends. Focussing more on road-biased touring rather than trail bashing, the TRK 552X rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels shod with Metzeler Tourance rubber. The new ADV from Benelli weighs a hefty 246 kilos kerb.
Powering the TRK 552X is a bigger 552cc parallel-twin engine delivering 60 bhp and 55Nm of peak torque. The 50cc bump in displacement makes it one of the most powerful ADVs in this category. Benelli has also ditched the 360-degree crank configuration for a 270-degree setup which should offer the engine some more character and possibly a throaty exhaust note.
Benelli TRK 552X: Expected India launch
As of now, there is no confirmation of Benelli bringing the TRK 552X to India, but given that the new TRK will replace the older model from its global lineup, chances are the Chinese-owned Italian brand will bring to our shores sometime in the future.
