Classic Legends has announced the launch of a new Jawa 42 at a starting price of Rs 1,72,942 (ex-showroom). This makes it almost Rs 17,000 more accessible than the outgoing model. The company has also widened the price range of the Jawa 42 from Rs 9,000 to Rs 25,000 with a total of eighteen variants of the neo-retro bike now available.
In its latest avatar, the Jawa 42 gets some significant upgrades over the outgoing model. Besides cosmetic changes, the new 42 gets some serious mechanical upgrades over its predecessor. The updates include improvement in engine refinement, NVH, versatility, and heat management.
2024 Jawa 42: Styling, colour options & price
For 2024, Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles is offering as many fourteen colour schemes in gloss and matte finishes available for the 42 including six new options namely Vega White, Voyager Red, Asteroid Grey, Odyssey Black, Nebula Blue, and Celestial Copper Matte. Continuing with the neo-retro styling, the Jawa 42 dons sportier aesthetics with completely blacked-out mechanicals such as the engine gearbox assembly, frame, and twin exhaust mufflers.
Other visual details remain unchanged. It gets a round headlamp with a flyscreen on top, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a curved rear fender. Jawa says the seat has been tweaked to make it a more comfortable experience for long hours. The list of variants along with the various colour schemes and prices are mentioned below.

2024 Jawa 42: Updated powertrain
As mentioned earlier, Jawa has made some significant ramifications to the 42 powertrain. Called the J-Panther engine, this new power mill gets the same 294cc displacement but its internals have undergone a major overhaul. For starters, it gets a new counter-balance shaft which has helped reduce engine vibrations and improve NVH levels.
Further, the catalytic converter has been moved to near the cylinder head giving the exhaust a more distinct and prominent sound. Besides, the company has also remapped the engine, as a result the liquid-cooled unit now pushes out 27 bhp and 26.84 Nm of peak torque. Classic Legends has also made changes to the 6-speed gearbox which now gains a slip and assist clutch for easier shifts.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears are now optimised for enhanced drivability with more low-end torque on offer whereas the fourth, fifth, and sixth gears have been tuned to offer maximum top-end performance on open stretches. Other enhancements include a heavier magneto, a larger throttle body and entry duct, and a CP4 cylinder head.
2024 Jawa 42: Revised hardware & features
The new Jawa 42 is underpinned by the same dual-cradle chassis which sits on a retuned suspension setup featuring telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers with re-adjusted mounting points for better damping. The retuned suspension has resulted in a ground clearance of 175 mm and a seat height of 785 mm.
Disc brakes are offered at both ends complemented by dual-channel ABS. The bike is offered with both wire-spoke and alloy wheels. Another signifincant change is a fully-digital LCD instrument panel carried from the the 42 Bobber and the Yezdi range.
