Tata Motors on Thursday announced its global sales have increased by 46% in June to 91,608 units on the back of robust demand from both commercial and passenger vehicles. The company sold 20,189 units of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in June, an increase of 47% from the same period last year, according to a release. Tata Motors group’s global sales comprise Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles along with the distributed brands in India, and JLR.

Commercial vehicles sales also increased by 38% to 39,975 units during the month under review compared to the year-ago period, the release said. On a cumulative basis, commercial vehicle sales jumped 41% at 1,11,298 units in the first quarter of the current fiscal.

While sales of luxury sedans of the Jaguar brand increased by 59% last month at 6,776 units, Land Rover sales were higher by 41% at 13,413 units. Tata passenger vehicles sales, including those distributed, stood at 31,444 units, a growth of 58% over the corresponding month of the previous year. Cumulative sales for the April-June 2010 quarter were 80,871 units, a growth of 57%.

During the April-June quarter, total vehicle sales rose by 50% at 2,49,322 units. Total passenger car sales increased by 58% at 1,38,024 units for the quarter. For June, it stood at 51,633 units, an increase of 53% from the same month last year.

Tata Motors had acquired Jaguar Land Rover in 2008 from Ford Motors.
