A Reddit user, who identified as a native of Bengaluru, has drawn attention online after posting a detailed account expressing deep frustration with what they described as the city’s worsening civic conditions. The post reflects mounting anger over public disorder, infrastructure issues and what they see as an unresponsive system.
“I am just a frustrated citizen and resident of Bangalore. I was born and brought up here. I am a Kannadiga and I studied in the heart of this city in Malleshwaram. I loved this city. And now Bangalore is becoming worse every single day,” the user wrote.
The post alleged that basic civic sense has eroded across the board, among residents as well as authorities, making everyday disruptions increasingly difficult to address.
‘They get irritated, yell at us, and cut the call’
The Reddit user described repeated attempts to report disturbances such as loud music at public gatherings, religious processions and road blockages. According to the post, residents often try to act responsibly by contacting emergency helpline 112, only to be connected to local police stations that appear overwhelmed or dismissive.
“They get irritated, yell at us, and cut the call. After that we have nowhere else to go,” the user wrote.
The post further claimed that even follow-up calls from the emergency helpline fail to lead to resolution. “Hours later, 112 calls us back to ask if the issue was resolved. First of all it happens too late. Second, even when we say no, the issue is not resolved, they just note it down and cut the call. Nothing happens after that,” the user said.
The user argued that the process creates the appearance of accountability without delivering any real action.
‘You have managed to make a true Bangalorean hate her own city’
Expanding beyond policing issues, the post also criticised governance, corruption and stagnant infrastructure. The Reddit user questioned how young people are expected to build careers and remain loyal to a system that, according to the post, fails to deliver basic public services.
“Politicians talk big but they are busy filling their pockets with our tax money. Bribery is everywhere. Corruption is the default setting. Infrastructure does not improve. Services do not work,” the user wrote.
The post ended on an emotional note, with the user expressing disillusionment with the city they once loved. “I never thought I would say this, but I hate what Bangalore has become,” the post read, concluding with, “Thank you to the Bangalore police, the municipal authorities, and the government. You have managed to make a true Bangalorean hate her own city.”
The post has resonated with several users online, echoing broader concerns about civic governance and quality of life in Bengaluru.
