A Bengaluru commuter has shared a furious rant online after a routine drive through the city’s pothole-ridden roads left his newly serviced car damaged — again. The user posted his ordeal on Reddit, saying he is “exhausted” by the state of the city’s infrastructure despite paying taxes and maintaining his vehicle properly.
Fresh Service, New Problems
According to the Reddit post, he had recently spent ₹23,000 on repairs, including replacing the entire suspension system on his car, ensuring it was “in perfect condition.”
The user wrote, “I spent 23k on my car’s service just last week. The suspension was completely gone, so I had to get it replaced. Basically did everything the service center recommended to make sure the car was in perfect condition.”
The user added that he drives through Outer Ring Road (HSR–Marathahalli), Brookfield, and sometimes Varthur as part of his regular commute.
Potholes Strike Again
The relief didn’t last long. While passing through Varthur, the car hit a large pothole — which he described as a “crater” — causing more damage.
“Right after that, my car started making strange noises. Turns out, the exhaust pipe got damaged.”
The service center has now quoted an additional ₹5,000 for repairs, leaving the owner frustrated and financially drained.
Road Tax vs Reality
Calling out civic authorities, the user questioned why taxpayers continue to suffer while infrastructure remains neglected.
“At this point, I’d rather just pay someone directly to fill and tar the potholes on my daily route instead of paying road tax to a government that clearly doesn’t care.”
For many in Bengaluru, this story hits close to home — as pothole-related vehicle damage and traffic delays are a daily struggle.
A Cry Many Can Relate To
The post ends with an emotional reflection that resonated widely with locals:
“It’s exhausting, man. You maintain your car, you drive carefully, you do everything right and then a single pothole wrecks your peace (and your wallet) all over again.”
The viral Reddit post once again highlights the urgent need for durable road infrastructure in India’s Silicon Valley.
