Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, recently offered insights into his father Mukesh Ambani’s unwavering dedication to work during a conversation at Mumbai Tech Week. Speaking with Harsh Jain, CEO of Dream Sports, he described his father as his greatest inspiration, emphasizing the values instilled in him by his close-knit family.
At the event, Akash revealed that Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, remains deeply involved in his work even after more than four decades in the industry.
“To this day, my father clears every single email he receives, working until 2 am. He’s been doing this for over 40 years, and that’s where the real inspiration comes from,” Akash shared, highlighting his father’s relentless dedication.
Nita Ambani’s eye for detail
Discussing his mother, Nita Ambani, Akash praised her passion and meticulous attention to detail, particularly in areas of shared interest, such as cricket.
“My mom, very similarly, focuses on the finest details. We’ll be watching the same cricket match on TV, but she’ll notice things that most people wouldn’t. That level of insight is something to admire,” he said.
He further emphasized that both his parents’ dedication has been a constant source of inspiration for him and those around them.
Beyond a 12-hour workday
During a rapid-fire segment, Akash was asked whether he’d prefer working from 8 am to 5 pm or 5 pm to 8 am. His response made it clear that his work hours go well beyond the conventional 12-hour schedule. He also credited his wife, Shloka Mehta, for her unwavering support in balancing his demanding professional life.
