A Reddit user living alone in Bengaluru has attracted widespread discussion after sharing her detailed monthly expenses and financial approach. The 23-year-old woman, working remotely, explained how she manages to maintain a comfortable lifestyle along with disciplined savings. As per her post, she spends RS 70,000 a month while saving close to Rs 1 lakh.
She highlighted that while she knows she could be more economical, she doesn’t believe in living ”horribly” during her youth just to save more money. ”I know I can do better, but I really don’t want to live horribly in my youth to save money,” she stated.

The Redditor disclosed that she pays Rs 27,000 for her 1 BHK apartment, Rs 15,000 on groceries, Rs 10,000 on dining, and manages utilities with Rs 499 for water and Rs 700 for electricity. She also stated that she maintains subscriptions, including Rs 2,000 for Claude Pro and Rs 199 for Netflix.
Importantly, she also highlighted that she spends Rs 10,000 every month on gifts for her parents, a priority she holds a great value. ‘’I love spending on mom and dad and exploring good food.’’ She also points out that her habit of avoiding drinking, partying, and smoking keeps her other expenses under control.
Clarifying her career journey, she shared that her salary was achieved by doing multiple job switches rather than graduating from an elite institution. ”I am literally from a VIT-equivalent institute not IIT,” she stated, adding that fresh graduates nowadays usually get impressive packages based on their skills and career choices.
Her post received positive reactions from several users online. ”Oh my god, I love Reddit. You are so cool, thank you so much for this!!” one user commented, praising her for getting health insurance for herself as well as for her parents.
Others reflected on their own experiences, with one user stating, ”At 22, my take-away home was Rs 12k a month. You will easily cross Rs 1 crore annually in 10 years!” However, some questioned her spending choices, especially paying Rs 27k rent while working remotely.
