RCB scored 218 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs and then restricted CSK to 191 for seven, securing the fourth and final spot in the playoff race. They will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator.

RCB in their game against CSK tied with Mumbai Indians (MI) for the most 200-plus run totals in a single IPL season.
The 218 run innings by RCB marked their sixth 200-plus total of the season. This achievement ties them with Mumbai Indians, who had six 200-plus totals in 2023, and Kolkata Knight Riders, who matched this feat in IPL 2024.
Team with 150 sixes
In the match against CSK on Saturday, RCB also became the first team ever to hit 150 sixes in a single edition of a T20 tournament. They overtook Sunrisers Hyderabad’s tally of 146 sixes.
The team hit 16 more sixes to hit the milestone.
RCB vs CSK IPL 2024
In the match, CSK won the toss and opted to bat first. RCB posted an impressive score of 218/5, with skipper Faf du Plessis scoring 54 off 39 balls (three fours and three sixes), and Virat Kohli contributing 47 off 29 balls (three fours and four sixes) in a 78-run partnership. This set a solid platform for Rajat Patidar (41 off 23 balls, with two fours and four sixes) and Cameron Green (38* off 17 balls, with three fours and three sixes) to build a 71-run stand for the third wicket. Quick contributions from Dinesh Karthik (14 off six balls, with a four and a six) and Glenn Maxwell (16 off five balls, with two fours and a six) helped RCB surpass the 200-run mark.
To qualify for the playoffs and improve their net run rate, RCB needed to restrict CSK to below 201 runs.
