Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s dream run continues as they registered their fifth victory on the trot on Sunday. In match 62 of Tata IPL 2024, RCB defeated visitors Delhi Capitals by a significant margin of 47 runs. This can be easily called a dream comeback for this franchise. In the league matches last month, RCB had posted just 1 win in 8 matches.

At the bottom of the points table, it seemed like they would be eliminated any day. But as they say, its not an end till it actually ends, RCB have made a stunning turnaround with five wins in a row in the business end of the group stage.

RCB will play the next match against defending champions Chennai Super Kings on May 18. To qualify for the playoffs, they must defeat CSK. In case, they chase a target of 180, they must achieve it with 18 overs.

On the other hand, in case they get to defend the target of 180 or so, they must dismiss entire CSK within 18 overs. At present, they are on number 5 with 12 points. And courtesy the huge win margin, their NRR has entered the positive zone. Their NRR right now stands at +0.387.

RCB vs DC: What happened in Sunday’s match against Delhi Capitals?

In the Sunday encounter, DC’s stand-in captain Axar Patel won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. Though their start was not that great, RCB got a brilliant third wicket partnership between Rajat Patidar (52 off 32) and Will Jacks (41 off 29). Together, they added 88 runs to the total and saw RCB post a competitive target of 187/9.

In response, DC had a horrible start. After losing four wickets inside the powerplay, the visitors never recovered. Axar Patel did give a fight, but he didn’t get any partner in the chase. In the last over, DC lost their last wicket and RCB registered their fifth consecutive win in Tata IPL 2024.

Yash Dayal (3.1-0-20-3) did the most damage. While Lockie Ferguson picked up two wickets, Cameron Green, Md Siraj and Swapnil Singh picked up 1 wicket each.
