To commemorate the 25 years of the Kargil War and the Centenary Celebrations of the ‘Bombay Sappers War Memorial’, the Indian Army Paramotor Expedition under NATEX K2K National Expedition concluded on January 16, 2024.

Marking a significant milestone in the history of the Indian army, the team reached Bhuj. Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra, GOC, Desert Corps, officiated the flagging-in ceremony for this distinctive expedition. A groundbreaking initiative, commenced on November 29, 2023, from the easternmost town of Kibithu in Arunachal Pradesh, traversing the vast expanse to reach Kutch in Gujarat.

About the Expedition

According to the Indian army, the dedicated team, comprising officers and thirty soldiers, covered an impressive cumulative distance of 10,683 kilometers, touching 52 points along the way. They navigated through rugged mountains, picturesque valleys, fertile plains, and the scenic Rann of Kutch, flying over nine states and a union territory.

This chosen route served as a tribute to citizens who answered the call to duty, highlighting the sacrifices made from east to west. Moreover, it showcased the breathtaking beauty and geographical diversity of India, symbolizing the unity of our nation. “The westward journey reflected the unwavering commitment of the Indian Army, honouring the rich tapestry of our nation and promoting the incredible opportunities India offers for aero adventure enthusiasts,” the Indian army officer said.

Paramotors, with their elegant and versatile design, provided the expedition members an unparalleled sense of freedom and connection with the environment. Unlike conventional aircraft, these crafts offered an immersive experience, allowing users to intimately engage with the diverse landscapes that define our nation.

According to the Indian Army, “The decision to embrace paramotors was a deliberate move away from convention, injecting a spirit of daring and unconventionality into this mega endeavour. This resonates with the ethos of the Indian Army, emphasizing the importance of versatility in the face of adversity.”
