IND vs AUS 3rd Test, Day 5: Rain continued to cause delays in Brisbane, cutting the first session on Day 5 of the third Test between India and Australia to just 24 balls. India was all out for 260 after Akash Deep was dismissed, and Australia was ready to start their innings, but the rain stopped play. Fans waited eagerly for Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney to walk out to bat, but the rain had other plans. The game was delayed as bad weather made it impossible to resume, and the situation got worse when more rain arrived at The Gabba, reducing the session to only 24 balls. Australia’s plans to start their batting innings were thwarted during the break when lightning delayed play, followed by another rain shower. The weather continued long enough that lunch was called early.

Jasprit Bumrah breaks Kapil Dev’s record

As the play resumed on Wednesday, Jasprit Bumrah surpassed Kapil Dev’s all-time record to become India’s leading wicket-taker in Australia on the fifth day of the third Test in Brisbane. The 31-year-old now has 52 wickets in Australia, surpassing Kapil’s total of 51 wickets from 11 Tests. Bumrah took six wickets in the first innings and added the wickets of Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne in the second innings to claim the record. Bumrah and Kapil are the only Indian bowlers to have taken 50 or more wickets in Australia. Anil Kumble is third on the list with 49 wickets. Among all visiting bowlers, West Indies’ Curtly Ambrose holds the record with 78 wickets in 14 Tests, at an average of 19.
